June brings the last days of spring and the first days of summer to Las Vegas. The children are fresh out of school and looking forward to all the summer activities that Las Vegas has to offer for families. The mornings are still pleasant in Las Vegas during the month of June and evenings are nice. The average temperatures hover near the 100 degree mark. Families are looking for fun things to do that are comfortable for the family budget.

Daughters of all ages can dance the night away at the Daddy Daughter and Family Dance being hosted by the East Las Vegas Community Center/Senior Center located at 250 N. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV. This event is being held on June 11 from 6pm to 9pm for all ages. Adults are $5, Children 6-1 2 are $3, Children 5 and under are free. English and Spanish music will be spun by a DJ, contests will be held, refreshments, prizes, and a professional photographer will be provided to ensure a evening of fun and dancing for all Dad's and their daughters, and the entire family.
Six hours of free water fun on Dear Ol' Dad's Day being held on Sunday, June 12, noon to 6pm at three separate Las Vegas City pool locations; Municipal Pool located at 431 E. Bonanza, Pavilion Center Pool located at 101 S. Pavilion Center Drive and the Carlos L. Martinez and Darrio J. Hall Family Pool at Freedom Park located at 889 N. Pecos Road. Fathers are free when accompanied by his child, Adults 18-49 are $2, Seniors 50+ are $1.50, children 4-17 are $1 and children 3 and under are free.

Thomas & Friends Live on Stage
Thomas & Friends is making tracks at the Orleans Arena in a live stage production - Thomas & Friends Live! On Stage in "Thomas Saves the Day." This is a 90 minute musical adventure featuring the beloved Thomas the Tank Engine and many of his popular engine friends. In "Thomas Saves the Day," Thomas, Percy, Diesel and others work together to save the annual Lantern Festival as a big storm arrives on the Island of Sodor. The Las Vegas Juneteenth Festival The 11th Annual Juneteenth Festival will be held on June 18 from 6pm to 9pm at a cost of $30. The Clark County Government Center Amphitheater at 500 Grand Central Parkway South, Las Vegas, NV is the year's host for this festival full of educational and cultural activities, family oriented fun, children activities, live entertainment, exhibitor booths, and amazing foods. Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus "The Circus is in Town" and who can miss the excitement of trapeze artist, clowns, elephants, lions, and tigers! Vegas Fringe Festival The Las Vegas Little Theatre will be holding its second annual “Vegas Fringe Festival,”to be held June 3 – 12, 2011. The two weekend Festival of Live Theatre will feature an exciting buffet of new and established plays and performances of no more than 90 minutes each, performed multiple times throughout the festival.
Performances include “Blue Hour”; “Sing to Me through Open Windows”; “Love Stories During the Armageddon of a Citrus Fruit” ;“The Wind in the Willows”; “Casa De Nada”; “Local Celebrity”; “Ruby of Elsinore”; “Home Free”; “Pandemic! - A Killer Flu-sical”; “My Best Dish” ; and finally “I am not Batman”
The festival will be held at the Las Vegas Little Theatre’s facility at 3920 Schiff Drive near the corner of Spring Mountain and Valley View with performances in both the Mainstage and Black Box Theatres. Enjoy the Old West at Bonnie Springs Ranch Travel back in time, just 30 minutes outside of Las Vegas, to Bonnie Springs Ranch, where the Old West still lives. Bonnie Springs offers a petting zoo where ducks, swans, wolves, deer, prairie dogs, raccoons, ponies, and llamas make their home. The small mining town replica from the 1880s has a bank, opera house, sheriff's office, school house, chapel, and cemetery. Have your picture taken dressed up in costumes from the Old West. See gunfights, hangings, and bank robbery re-enactments in shows performed several times daily. Sidle up to a table at the restaurant for a long, cool drink, or some delicious food. Bonnie Springs offers horseback and stagecoach rides. The Western-themed Old Nevada park is opened through the summer months 10:30am to 6pm. Whales, Sharks and a Den of Bears The Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World offers wildlife settings including a lion pride, fighting bull moose, a den of bears and a two story giraffe that will thrill children and anyone who loves the outdoors. You will feel like you are at the bottom of the ocean in its fishing and boating area when you see whales and large sharks overhead. A live bass aquarium will keep parents and children mesmerized with many smaller fish tanks. All the exhibits are free along with Craft Workshops for children. The "Make Your Own Leather Keychain" workshop will be held on June 14, 16, 18, and 19 and the "Design Your Own Birdhouse" workshop will be held on June 28 and 30. Free Family Workshops to learn archery, bird watching, plants and insects, and animal identification are offered throughout the summer. A Break from the Heat The Clark County Library located at 140l E. Flamingo, Las Vegas, NV offers free children films and a cool, quiet break from the heat. On June 14, the library is showing an all day event showcasing more than 60 short films from around the world, including documentaries, animation and live action hosted by the Las Vegas International Children's Film Festival. The age group for this event is 4-19. Offered for the entire family, what "tween" would want to miss the 105 minute documentary of pop sensation Justin Bieber's 2010 concert tour. "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" will include behind the scenes footage of Justin's childhood and includes cameos of superstars Usher and Jaden Smith. The film starts at 2pm on June 25. Mesoamerican Art The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Natural History, located on the UNLV campus, at 4505 S. Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV is a free trip back in time to view more than 500 artifacts of Mesoamerican art. The collection includes religious and ritualistic masks from Mexico and Guatemala, costumes and textiles of brilliant colors, ancient figures of monsters and gods. The lobby of the museum offers fun activites for the kids like colorings and digging up artifacts. Don't forget to take a stroll through the Xeric Gardens filled with barrel and cotton top cactus, yucca, cholla bunny ears, and agave plants. Ball Park Specials "Buy Me Some Peanuts and Crackerjacks" and "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" will be familiar lyrics your family will sing when watching Las Vegas's 51s baseball games held at Cashman Field. Be a part of America's national pastime taking advantage of the many specials offered during June, July, and August. The team is offering $1 hot dogs, popcorn, crackerjacks, and popcorn during the June 13 game against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. The June 19 game against the Reno Aces offers the Fritos Father's Day Special where randomly selected families will get a chance to perform as a PA announcer, or be a co-radio broadcaster, or even throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Outdoor Children's Threatre Town Square Las Vegas's Children's Park provides a place for children of all ages to enjoy a variety of activities and hours of splashing and pretending. Kids can play in the Princess Tower Playhouse, the Bakery Cafe Playhouse, and play among topiaries of elephants, monkeys, dolphins and flamingos in the Hedge Maze. Hours of fun will be found in the 42-foot tall, live oak Tree House featuring a rock wall, slides and a fort. The park offers the Children's Threatre, all free of charge. Movies start at dusk. Please arrive early as seating is first come, first served. Children's activities and entertainment will be provided. June 16 movie feature will be "Shrek Ever After", June 23 is "The Karate Kid" and June 30 is "Megamind".
