St. Patrick‘s Day in Las Vegas

THIS INFORMATION IS ARCHIVAL AND MAY NOT BE CURRENT:

On St. Patrick‘s Day in Las Vegas they say that everyone has a wee bit o‘ the Irish in them. So get out your kilts, and warm up those bagpipes, lads and lassies - you‘re in for a real Irish treat!

Start off the morning with the annual St. Patrick‘s Day parade in Henderson. It‘ll sweep you away to the rolling emerald hills of Eire. Ahhhh - can‘t you hear the bagpipers as they play all the wonderful Irish jigs and ballads? The colors of the tartan kilts stand out vividly against the background of the downtown area. And all of the casinos get in on the celebration too. One year, they even served a green-colored brew in a football shaped glass. There‘s a keepsake you‘ll not soon forget! You have to stop in Fitzgerald‘s on St. Patrick‘s Day too, after all that is what they are all about! There will be revelry and festivities going on there all day long!

Maybe you need to gear up for Saint Patrick‘s Day in Las Vegas? Run into the wonderful Desert Passage Shop in the Aladdin. They have a great Irish store called McGrail‘s of Erin. You can buy everything from a Guinness t-shirt to fine Irish porcelain, and from a clannad ring to books on Irish fairy tales or Irish history. It‘s a great little shop, and is sure to get you in the Irish mood. Other Irish-inspired shops around town include the gift shop at The Fitzgerald downtown. You can bet to find a lucky four-leaf clover there to help your trip to Vegas be a lucky one!

In the mood for more traditional Irish fare and atmosphere? Las Vegas can certainly deliver! Pubs have sprouted up everywhere - complete with authentic food and drink. In the New York New York, sashay your way to Nine Fine Irishmen. Grab a pint of Harps and some appetizers while you relax in an authentic pub surrounding. Next, try Murphy‘s at the Strip and Sunset Boulevard. Blow the foam off a pint of Guinness and throw it back, and you might feel like getting up and dancing a jig along with the live, rousing Irish music.
Then, you can wend your way over to the Palace Station and sit a spell at Jack‘s Irish Pub. You‘ll find more lively music and more pints of Guinness and Harp that just seem to keep coming!

Going the other way on this wonderful Las Vegas St. Patrick‘s Day? Never fear - you can stop at Fado‘s in the Green Valley Ranch Casino. (This one is my personal favorite!) Try something more ""exotic"" here - like a Snake Bite or a Black-and-Tan. The beautiful, dark wood bar was brought over from Ireland and assembled by Irishmen. Still hungry? Try the rollogs or their corned beef and cabbage - it‘s like none other! And, if you still feel like doing the ""Irish bar hop,"" you can head over to Brendan‘s Irish Pub in The Orleans, where you can round the night off with an Irish Whiskey, if you‘re up for it! And, as you head back to the Strip, stop at the Titled Kilt inside the Rio where you can grab a pint of ice cream instead of beer, and relax as you sip on a warm-you-up Irish Coffee, knowing that you have successfully completed your tour of Irish pubs Las Vegas-style.

So, now you‘re in the ""know"" for a fun and fabulous time on St. Patrick‘s day in Las Vegas. Just remember to wear something green, whatever you decide to do! And, as the old Irish blessing says:

""May the Road Rise up to Meet You
May the Wind be Always at Your Back
May the Sun Shine Upon Your Face
The Rains Fall Soft Upon Your Fields
And, Until We Meet Again
May God Hold You in the Palm of His Hand""

We look forward to seeing you in Fabulous Las Vegas!
