Most Famous Vegas Celebrity Weddings

We all know that Las Vegas is THE place for quickie and quirky weddings. Valentine‘s Day in Las Vegas is the most popular day to get hitched, which means Cupid is on some serious overtime! (Not to mention the people at the office you get marriage licenses at - the line can stretch down the street!) Las Vegas has been home to some of the most outrageous and scandalous marriages of the country! And in honor of Valentine‘s Day in Las Vegas, here‘s our pick for the Top Ten Most Famous (and notorious!) Celebrity Marriages:

1. Nicki Hilton and Todd Meister

Well, we were all shocked when pretty, young (and incredibly wealthy!) Nicki Hilton married this rather dour looking 33-year-old guy (13 years her senior) at an early a.m. ceremony. It had to be love, right? Nope! Rumors say it all turned out to be a big publicity stunt to launch Nicki‘'s new line of clothes. And who did Nicki say was behind the whole scheme? Why, her sister Paris, of course. The marriage was annulled about two months after their August 15, 2004 nuptials.

2. Britany Spears and Jason Allen Alexander

The cute, girl-next-door turned sexy siren came to Vegas, and married her high school "friend" on a lark, right? Hmmm. We think she maybe just wanted to settle down, and who better with than a friend you‘ve known for years. Well, Mama and Papa Spears did not agree, and the marriage was annulled just 55 hours later. This ranks as the "Shortest Marriage" out of the top ten. Then there was dancer Kevin Federline...who's next?

3. Mickey Rooney et al

He definitely takes the prize for "Most Times Married" in Las Vegas. Let‘s see....1942 to Ava Gardner; 1944 to Betty Jane Rose; 1948 to Martha Vickers; 1952 to Elaine Mahnken; 1958 to Barbara Thomason; 1967 to Marge Lane and 1969 to Carolyn Hackett. Whew! He‘s hit the aisle more than anyone else, so I guess he must have gotten pretty good at it...No cold feet here!

4. Clara Bow and Rex Bell

They married in 1931. Clara, a famous silent film star, married handsome movie cowboy Rex Bell in a small ceremony, and were one of Las Vegas‘'s first celebrity marriages.

5. Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf

The Royal Couple of Tennis married in Las Vegas in 2001. They get the prize for "Most Athletic Couple" on our list. They still reside in Las Vegas, after all, Andre is a native! And they know have little tennis prodigies running around. Wait till they hit the pro circuit...

6. Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thorton/Demi Moore and Bruce Willis/Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith

This is a huge tie! These are all "Hollywood Greats" who got hitched in Vegas, and sadly, did not stay together! Angelina and Billy Bob, the decidedly strange couple, took to carrying around vials of each others blood (as if the tattoo of each other‘s names wasn‘t enough) were married in 2000 at the Little Church of the West. Demi and Bruce were married in 1987 at the Little White Chapel. They are one of the few Hollywood couples who‘ve managed to remain friendly after their split, which makes it easier for their three children. Don and Melanie were married in 1976, and made several movies together. (Side note: I liked the remake of Born Yesterday they did together. I don‘t care what the critics say!) Of course, Melanie is now re-married to actor Antonio Banderas, and we try not to be too envious...

7. Darva Conger and Rick Rockwell

This takes the cake for causing the "Most Media Frenzy!" As part of the reality show, Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire, Darva married Rick on LIVE television onstage at the Hilton! Wow! Not too surprising, after the February 15th wedding, Ms. Conger filed for an annulment on March 7th. Apparently, Mr. Rockwell had some issues in his past, like a restraining order. Well, there‘s one reality show that did'n‘t produce a happy ending, but hey, it got great ratings!

8. Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra

And the prize for "Oddest Couple" goes to....Everyone was shocked when beautiful Carmen married cross-dressing, make-up wearing basketball player Dennis Rodman in 1998 at the Little Chapel of the Flowers. Hey, I figured he must have made her laugh, which is really important! Again, this couple were soon parted (divorced within six months), and Carmen had now moved on to a reality television show on MTV called "Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen and Dave," with her new husband Dave Navarro.

9. Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere

The supermodel and the Hollywood leading man married in 1991 at the Little Chapel of the West, despite an 18-year difference in age. This seemingly perfect pair split after a few years in 1995. Both have moved on with their careers and their personal lives. Cindy is now re-married to Rande Gerber and is a supermodel mom of two. Richard also remarried in 2002, and has had hits with movies like Chicago and Runaway Bride.

10. Elvis Presley and Priscilla Anne Beaulieu

The King married his beautiful bride Priscilla in 1967 at the Aladdin. This is THE Vegas wedding, and has set the stage for so many couples getting married here. This is the marriage that broke hopeful, young hearts all across America! Elvis was, and will always, be The King. Hey, my cousin was married by a singing Elvis impersonator. Where else but Vegas can you do that?

Who knows, maybe on your next trip to Las Vegas you‘ll get hit by Cupid‘s arrow, hear the melodious sound of wedding bells, and get the itch to walk down the aisle? For those of us already married, it‘s a great place to re-confirm your vows too. Then you can tell your grandkids that you got hitched in Vegas too, by a singing Elvis nonetheless. Just like the celebrities...
