Las Vegas’ Dance in the Desert Festival has become known as an important venue for the premiere of new choreography and the exchange of artistic energy. This year’s festival is a tribute to choreographer, performer, educator and dance theorist Murray Louis.

Many of his former students and company members are gathering to honor their mentor who will be traveling from his home in New York to accept the accolades.

Participants in the event include Butterworth Dance Company, Metropolitan Ballet, Moving Arts Dance and Concert Dance Company.

The events of the festival will emphasize contemporary concert works representing a variety of dance forms.

The three programs will offer mostly different performances, and you can get a discount for tickets to more than one program.

Kids will enjoy the ballet as well as the modern dance, and a chance to
see what dancers are capable of for the love of their art.
