Clark County Parks & Recreation Offers summer resident camps at Camp Lee Canyon in the Toiyabe National Forest. Camps begin on Sunday and end Friday evening. Each camp has a special focus and is geared toward a specific age group. Campers will also enjoy traditional camp activities such as hiking, campfires, skits, and games.Camp Lee Canyon is located in the Spring Mountain Range, 45 miles from Las Vegas. Cool Mountain air, rustic cabins, and the natural beauty of this alpine setting provide an excellent atmosphere for learning, relaxing and fun.
Campers stay in group cabins. Campers are supervised by trained counselors (except for Camp Silver Pines). Other resident staff include: Class and workshop instructors, a registered nurse and/or EMT, a camp director, the camp manager, and a professional catering staff.
All meals, a daily snack, class supplies and a camp T-shirt are included in the camp fee. Participants are required to bring their own bedding (sleeping bags and/or sheets and a blanket), and suitable clothing. A camp packing list and information packet (including map with directions) will be provided prior to camp. Parents and/or guardians are responsible for transporting campers to and from camp (with the exception of Camp Silver Pines).
On The Edge Camp – Teens July 19 – 24, 2009 Ages 13 – 15 $400
This fun and challenging camp for teens features outdoor recreation activities such as a high ropes challenge course, mountain biking, hiking and camping under the stars. Each year Themed activities (such as last year’s amazing race) inspire fun and challenge for the campers. Our popular teen dance caps off the week.
Omni Science Camp - Children July 26 – 31, 2009 Ages 8 – 12 $400
Our popular science camp offers interactive sessions and hands-on experiments. Former subjects have included Weather, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Robotics, and Technology. A recent guest speaker was NASA Mission Specialist Astronaut Richard Linnehan.
