Things to do in Las Vegas with Toddlers

While regular Vegas visitors are hitting the casino, you can enjoy some lesser known things to do in Vegas for kids and toddlers.

Children's Tree House & Play Zone at the Container Park

This one-of-a-kind interactive play area where both children and adults can have fun and be active while exploring their creativity. Special features of the Treehouse include a 33 foot tall slide and aNEOS play system. While at the Container Park, an open-air shopping center filled with boutique retail shops, restaurants, and live entertainment, be sure to try the gourmet hot dogs at Cheffini's and have a cupcake at CupKates.

Adventuredome: America's largest indoor theme park

The Adventuredome at Circus Circus hotel is America's largest indoor theme park with everything from roller coasters to face painting to rock climbing. Despite the many rides for bigger kids and teens AdventureDome does have a number of rides that are appropriate for younger riders under 5. Frog Hopper takes younger children on a leaping ride (must be between 36 and 58 inches tall to ride). Miner Mike is a runaway coal train ride destined for a happy place (must be between 33 and 58 inches tall to ride). Take flight and play pilot above The Adventuredome crowd with Thunderbirds, a remnant 1920s airplane! Children must be between 36 and 58 inches to ride. After riding enjoy the free clown shows on the main stage. Performances daily at noon, 1, 3 and 4 p.m. Additional shows run Friday and Saturday at 6, 7, 8, and 9 p.m.

The Shark Reef

Small children will be wide-eyed and fascinated at the underwater life at Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. It's is not your typical aquarium. It is a total sensory experience designed to transport visitors to an undersea ocean of fantastic sights, sounds and encounters. Shark Reef features one of North America's largest displays of sharks and other sea predators and is home to more than 1,200 different species, including 16 different species of sharks, tropical and fresh water fish, reptiles, marine invertebrates and rays.

M&M's World

Located next to MGM Grand hotel, M&M's World is four floors and 28,000 square feet of chocolate. The store features M&M memorabilia, t-shirts and Vegas only M&M candies. They even have a free 3-D movie, ?I Lost My ?M? in Vegas,? starring Red and Yellow that shows daily.

Child's Play

Child's Play is an indoor play area for toddlers...and parents. While children enjoys the play space mom and dad can sit back and enjoy coffee, tea and conversation with other parents. The play space consists of four themed rooms each offreing a novel and fun experience for kids. Child's Play has two locations in Las Vegas each within about a 20 minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip.

Discovery Children's Museum

Discovery Children's Museum is at 58,000 square foot building and hoome to a number of themed exhibitions (some ongoing and other's traveling). Small children of all ages (babies through 5 years) will especially enjoy Todlder Town where they're busy loading "rocks" and "boulders" into an overhead bucket system, discovering Nevada's animal wildlife, and being train engineers. A Crawl Zone provides a protected sensory area for children who aren?t yet walking but who are active explorers. A spacious Art Zone features hands-on activities as well as a reading area and parent resource station. A Nursing Nook is also available for nursing mothers.

Town Square Children's Park

Just south of Mandalay Bay hotel you'll find what seems like a place that seems like a copy and pasted job out of Southern California and unlike most Las Vegas tourist areas there are no slot machines, table games, or pit bosses. Located adjacent to Town Square Park is the Children?s Park which features a Pop Jet fountain, tree house, hedge maze, playhouses, bakery café playhouse, storytelling and boys and girls restrooms designed for children.

The Springs Preserve

Mirage Volcano

Every fifteen minutes from dusk to midnight, flames shoot into the night sky, spewing smoke and fire 100 feet above the waters below and transforming a tranquil waterfall into streams of molten lava. The volcano at The Mirage has been Las Vegas' signature attraction ever since the resort opened in 1989. The show is free to the public. Kidde Cover at Wet n' Wild

Kidde Cover is located in the middle of the Colorado Cooler river attraction and is a collection of three slides for younger visitors. Two slides provide an independent slide experience and is a great introduction to water parks. For those who need a little hand hold to get started, a group slide is the perfect location for parents and kids to slide together. The Wet n Wild water theme park is located approximately 20 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. The park features 25 slides and attractions. Junior admission (under 42 inches) is $29.99 and general admission is $34.99. Children aged 3 and younger are admitted free.

Titanic Artifact Exhibit

You can relive the calamity in this 25,000-square-foot exhibition at the Luxor Hotel. It plays host to more than 300 artifacts recovered from the wreckage, which rests 12,500 feet below the North Atlantic. The exhibit includes what?s come to be known as ?the big piece,? a 15-ton section of the hull, the largest chunk of the Titanic ever recovered. Personal artifacts include postcards from doomed passengers, luggage and glassware.
