LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 2003--In a city that glitters 365 days a year, Caesars Palace (NYSE:PPE) is making a statement with its 2003 holiday decorations. From December 1 to January 5, the famed Las Vegas casino resort will sparkle with an extensive array of holiday decorations, the centerpiece of which is a seven-story Christmas tree positioned in the middle of the famous Caesars Palace front fountains.
The replica Rocky Mountain Pine tree will be 60' tall with a base diameter of 30'. It will have more than 1,000 branches and weigh 11,500 pounds. The tree will require 300 amps of electricity and will glow with 15,000 watts from the 216,510 twinkling multi-colored lights -- more than twice as many lights as the Christmas tree in New York's Rockefeller Center! The tree will be installed over a four-day period and involve a crew of a dozen people. The tree will be surrounded by twelve simulated candles covering the fountains in floating light pods; the two-dozen cypress trees lining the front lawn of Caesars Palace also will be adorned with white holiday lights.
In addition to the spectacular outdoor Christmas tree, Caesars Palace will spread holiday cheer inside the resort with a stunning display of decorations designed and installed by the Becker Group, one of the world's leading provider of holiday decor. The holiday decor package will be in prominent display in the Caesars lobby, casinos, shopping arcades and other public areas. The indoor holiday decorations include six dozen Christmas trees, 10 wreaths, measuring up to 12' in diameter, 1,300' of garland and almost one mile of holiday lights.
"The beautiful decor throughout Caesars Palace will enhance our resort's position as one of the world's premier destinations during the holiday season," said Mark Juliano, president of Caesars Palace. "We hope that Las Vegans and visitors enjoy touring the property and bring home with them photo and video mementos to treasure for years to come."
"Our goal was to make Caesars the ultimate place for Las Vegas holiday celebrations," said Glen Tilley, president of the Baltimore-based Becker Group. "This tree will tower in the center of the Las Vegas Strip; we hope it will become a holiday landmark for the city."
The seven-story Christmas tree will be illuminated in a public event on Wednesday, December 3 at 5:00 pm. Footage will be made available for media use, satellite feed coordinates to be announced.
